New equipment recommendations

Post by VSlaybaugh » Sat Jan 26, 2019 9:49 pm

Forgive me if there are rules of this forum that state that recommending any certain brand/model of machine is not allowed. I looked for the rules but couldn't locate any. If it is not OK to ask this question, feel free to delete my post.

I haven't been on the forum for several years. I have been a cPap user for 5 years now and have just been given a new prescription for a new machine and headgear. I'm wanting to find what is new out there that users really like. I would like for it to be a machine as quiet as possible and have a SmartStart so that when the mask is put on the machine comes on without having to hit the start button. I've been using the ResMed 9 AutoSet for the past 5 years with the AirFit P10 For Her Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear. I used to use the ResMed software to view my AHI events on the computer but hardly ever do that anymore.

Thank you.

ResMed's replacement for the S9 is the Airsense 10 Autoset - it has the auto start/stop and auto-adjusting pressure, is very quiet, includes heated hose and built-in humidifier, and gives you full therapy data on an SD card. It and the Philips Respironics Dreamstation seem to be the two best-loved machines. I've been happy with my ResMed for 3 years.

I would also like feedback on if anyone has tried or is using the ResMed AirFit™ N30i Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear and how you like it. It looks very intriguing and similar to the sample I'm using of the Philips DreamWear Gel Pillows Lab Mask (I use the nasal pillows not a mask). I am on day 3 of trying this one that the Pulmonologist's nurse gave me. I think I am loving having the hose come off the top of the head so there is more freedom of turning in bed and being free of the hose. It is very comfortable. I have been using a hose lift for several years to keep the hose up off of me. Now I think I can even do away with the hose lift if I stay with this new headgear. The only thing driving me a little crazy is the airflow coming out of a single hole in the front of the nasal pillow vs. the air vents on the AirFit™ P10 For Her Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear I have been using. I note in the pictures of the ResMed AirFit™ N30i Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear that it looks more like the vents I'm used to rather than the single hole in the one I'm trying now. The gush of air coming out annoys me and I can't stand it hitting my arms or hands or bouncing off them or the sheet covers. The bounce back of the air pressure hitting something close to me is noisy and annoying.

Also, there seems to be some kind of small rapid fin-like flapping noise in the left nasal opening that I can't seem to get to go away no matter how I try to adjust the nasal pillow. I'd like there to not be any noise so I can fall asleep quicker. Maybe ResMed's version will be better for me than the Philips I'm trying.

Simple, get the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset For Her.

All your S9 autoset had, and a bit more possible goodness.
