I have been trying my cpap machine for a week now and still haven't had it on for more than 2 hours.
I have a nose pillow and I also use a chin strap.
I seems that just when I start to fall asleep, the pressure starts to rise and my mouth opens
enough that it wakes me up so I haven't been getting much sleep.
I've seen posts that people have tried multiple face masks before they find the right one
for them. To me, this seems very pricey and is not really an option for me.
Anyone have similar problems and/or solutions?
Thank you.
Nose pillow questions
Re: Nose pillow questions
You have to learn how to keep the air from ever entering the mouth in the first place...and I know that is easier said than done but it can be done.
To keep the lips from opening.....
For some people the solution is to tape the mouth shut.
Lots of options...members will be along to offer what works well for them.
Me....I just taped my lips for about 3 months and that worked well for me. Chin strap for me was more annoying than helpful.
Chin straps are supposed to be gentle reminders to not let the jaw drop down and further open the mouth but they won't stop air from entering the mouth in the first place and they can't ever be tight enough to vise grip the lips shut.

Re: Nose pillow questions
I used pillows until I started having really horrid congestion that shutdown nose breathing. So, what to do? I have claustrophobia that gets set off easily and even looking at full mask masks was an unnerving experience. I found the RespCare Hybrid mask with pillows and covers the mouth so no loss of air when I breath through my mouth. Perfect solution for me. Click on my mask listing (in my signature) to view it on our host's website. I hope this helps. There are several style of hybrid FFMs.
