Hello.
I'm a new DreamStation Auto CPAP user and have been seeing my AHI improving (30 day average of 4.82, with some variation here and there (as in the screenshot from last night, AHI of 6.04).
I wanted to ask if you could look at the attached and let me know if I should make any adjustments to pressure with the goal of being as close to AHI zero as possible.
I am happy to share more info, if needed.
Many thanks for your assistance and advice.
help with settings for DreamStation Auto CPAP?
Re: help with settings for DreamStation Auto CPAP?
Welcome to the forum.
Getting a 0.0 from a Respironics machine isn't so easy but not impossible. When I was using Respironics I was happy with 2.0 ish as long as I slept decently and felt decent.
Perfect numbers don't guarantee much except a pat on the back.
I see no mention in your post as to how you are feeling and how you feel your sleep quality is.
To get the AHI lower though...you are going to need more minimum pressure and you will have to ignore the CAs/centrals because they can't be fixed with more pressure. Pretty much all the other flags are obstructive related and will usually respond to more pressure.
Maybe 8.5 or 9.0 minimum.

Re: help with settings for DreamStation Auto CPAP?
Thanks for the reply. I'll try 8.0 min for starters - how long would you recommend evaluating before moving to 9.0?
Generally I feel much better than before CPAP. I only wake once per night (vs multiple times) and that is to use the bathroom. I am not tired during the day anymore nor sleepy when driving.
My sleep study said my AHI was 28 nonREM and 51 REM, so from that perspective, it's also much improved.

Re: help with settings for DreamStation Auto CPAP?
I like to use a setting for 5 to 7 nights at least before changing again. There's always a normal to night variance even with no changes in anything. Plus there is some truth to the getting used to a new setting thing.
Unless the results of an experiment are yielding disastrous results...I don't change anything for around a week.
