Visitor Needs Respironics Remstar AC Adapter in Honolulu (Waikiki)

Post by jhawk2k8 » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:32 pm

Hi All,

I am visiting Honolulu (Waikiki) right now and wondering if any kind person out there has an extra AC Adapter that would work for my machine, a Respironics Remstar Auto CPAP. I got here yesterday and realized to my horror that I forgot the AC Adapter at home. I have attached a pic. If anyone in Honolulu has an AC adapter either for sale or loan, I would enormously appreciate and would be more than happy to compensate you for any inconvenience.

Really need your help guys. I have been feeling awful after sleeping so badly without my machine last night and we are here for 5 more days.

Take a look here: https://honolulu.craigslist.org/search/ ... p&sort=rel

You could buy another machine, and they are reasonably priced (plus you can negotiate).

Here is one like yours:

https://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/hab ... 17431.html

Here's a better one:

https://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/hab ... 11490.html and it's right near you.

Good luck, dude, not fun not having cpap.

Or you could call a DME (durable medical equipment) store Monday am, and see if they can help out.

I'm working on chasing down a new machine. I'd prefer not to use a used one, but it would still be better than nothing at all. For the first of the links you sent, I actually met with the guy today, but he was missing the part of the power cord that plugs into the wall. I emailed the other one, hopefully they will respond. I'm going to Apria locally here in the AM, but need a backup plan if they don't have my ac adapter.

I would gladly pay someone $200 for any ac adapter that works for my machine.

For what it's worth, all my cpaps have been used... that's why I've been able to afford a number of different ones, and spares :)

You should be able to get those at any bestbuy, maybe walmart... it's a standard cord.. maybe use one off your laptop.

Used is fine, just use your own hose and mask, and wash the humidifier well with soap and water. Too bad about the cord, it's a fairly standard cord which you might find on an ac adapter for a laptop computer like at Best Buy. You could also bring your machine to a Best Buy or equivalent and test out 12 volt power supplies.

The Airsense is an okay deal, depending on how many hours are on the blower. But be aware it is not an auto machine, it is a fixed pressure CPAP machine. It's also not data capable, so really a worse machine than your current one.

Apria may be able to help, but only if they carry the same type of machines, ie the Respironics PR1 machines. I wish you luck. I'd overnite you an adapter, but given the holidays and slow transit to Hawaii, it probably wouldn't help you.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I was able to get a replacement adapter at Coastal Medical Supply on Nimitz. They were super helpful and the price was only $60.

Happy new year!!

Incorrect, the one actual pic of the machine for sale shows that it's an autoset, the stock pics are the CPAP model, that's true.
