Depends on how slack one's jaw is, I suppose, opening the mouth too much will take it out of the mask.LSAT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 5:56 amVery unusual to need that with a Full Face mask...???palerider wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 11:00 pmSaw this on reddit... someone made a .... hybrid chin strap?

Especially if I'm overly tired it seems.

My wife and I have both found that if we don't use the firm foam cervical collar, our mouths drop open enough to come out of the mask and cause massive leaks.

Same here. I use a DreamWear Full Face and if I don't use a chin strap in conjunction, my mouth still pops open below the mask seal.

I can't decide which I would rather not do...use that chin strap PR found the picture of or a cervical collar.
Neither one is very appealing to me.
Thankfully I don't have to decide on which devil is the worse devil.
Carry on guys and gals. Just had to put my useless 2 cents worth in.

Depends on the full face mask. My jaw would often open "too much" and make the full face mask leakier, etc. I tried several full face mask with a mouth cover, but still had issues and ended up just using a nasal pillows and taping. (I really didn't want to tape. )LSAT wrote: ↑Fri Dec 14, 2018 5:56 amVery unusual to need that with a Full Face mask...???palerider wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 11:00 pmSaw this on reddit... someone made a .... hybrid chin strap?

Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

Re: Interesting idea for FFM and preventing chin drop.
I have tried nasal pillows several times. I have not found a tape that will stick to my face enough to stop air from escaping from my mouth. After several nights of not sleeping, I have given up on nasal pillows and will continue to use the full face mask. If my pressure requirements were lower, taping might work for me. If I could get the nasal pillows to work for me, I would regrow my beard.

Re: Interesting idea for FFM and preventing chin drop.
The illustrated chin strap doesn't seem to solve the problem. 1) It is pulling the chin back into the throat, and 2) because it is elastic the wearer could still open his chin.
I use a home-made strap previously pictured here several years ago. 1) It is further toward the tip of the chin and fastened to the lower mask strap near where the strap plugs into the mask. So it tends to pull the chin straight up, and 2) My strap is not elastic so the resistance to opening the jaw is much greater.
It does the job for me.
