New here but not new to CPAP

Post by JanieM » Tue Dec 04, 2018 5:56 pm

Hi! I wanted to introduce myself as I’ve been reading posts here for a while. I was diagnosed with very severe sleep apnea in 1996, which seems like the dark ages in terms of CPAP treatment. CPAP has saved my life and I’m grateful for it, although it’s a pain in the butt.

I’ve had many machines, many masks, and am still working on getting better results, although my most recent change to an auto Dream Machine has given me the best results ever. AHI is averaging around 3.

I’m a side sleeper and use a Simplus FF mask, which is the best I’ve found after trying many, though it’s far from perfect. It “snorts” a lot, and I think that noise causes me to awaken frequently during the night. That’s just a guess, but I do wake up a lot. No leaking, according to my Dream Mapper app, but still lots of noise.

My other problem with the Simplus is that I get a deep mark on my face from the strap on the side that I sleep on. I’ve tried padding of various kinds, but sleeping on my side seems to create marks. I’ve decided to accept the marks as the trade off for decent sleep, as I’ve had them with every mask I’ve tried.

I’m not really asking for anything in particular; just saying hello. Glad that I’ve found this Forum.

I use the Simplus and get the same strap mark..Mine, however disappears quite quickly. Simplus is an underrated mask
