Travel CPAP Black Friday Deal

Post by DrBwell » Fri Nov 23, 2018 6:49 am

Does anyone have any particular brand name travel CPAP machine they would choose over another? My home Resmed S10 is becoming a pain to travel with. Since today is Black Friday I’m looking to score a deal. Thanks

Can you manage without humidity? Travel machines don't have it.

I've owned a Z1 Auto for about a year. Used it exclusively for traveling. While it's travel size is great and the flexibility to use any mask I want is great, there are a few things that I do not like about it. First & WORST is how loud the machine is both at the machine and through the mask. The noise through the mask was just air forcing out of the mask, while the noise from the machine was more of a whine/whistle. I purchased the Q-tube muffler, which didn't really didn't help with the noise. there have been times where the noise has been so loud/distracting that I couldn't fall asleep immediately.

Another issue is with the connection to the machine. you have to use an adapter to plug your standard hose to the machine. where the adapter connects to the machine, there is a rubber gasket that is not very durable and during my most recent vacation, this gasket tore. I visited a local shop and was informed that this piece was part of the machine, so I couldn't just order a replacement part and have to do a warranty claim for it. I am currently working with the distributor for a warranty replacement. I plan on putting the machine up for sale upon the replacement

I just ordered a ResMed AirMini with the AirFit P10 mask. I was able to handle it at that local shop during my vacation and was impressed with how quiet it is compared to the Z1. My primary concern with these travel cpaps is size, which is why I went with a AirMini as opposed to the DreamStation Go, which would allow me to continue using my Dreamwear mask. I've used the AirFit P10 before, so it wouldn't be a big deal for me to use it for the short times that I normally travel.

My father owns a Transcent Auto, which is bigger than both the Z1 & AirMini. It has a weird curved shape to it, which I recently learned was because the machine was designed to be worn on top of the head. I believe you can use any mask that you want with this one. I haven 't used it myself, but my dad doesn't seem to have any complaints.

From the research I've been doing, it seems you can't go wrong with either the AirMini or the DreamStation Go . . . hope this helps!

I have the Dreamstation GO with optional battery. It seems almost as nice as my Resmed Autoset AS10 machine. I wouldn't call it a travel size machine though. It's about the same size and weight (with the battery attached) as my full size Resmed. I bought it for using on a plane with the battery. I'd really like to try the Resmed Airmini- it looks really small compared to the DS GO.

I'm coming up on a year with the ResMed AirMini. It's been tremendous as a travel machine, and the Humid-X cartridge design, with the proprietary mask configuration (I use an AirFit P10 both at home and on the road) has created the first waterless humidity configuration that I can live with. In very dry air, I have to 'prime' the Humid-X with a jet of plain saline spray, otherwise I wake up in the middle of the night with dry sinuses, but other than that, the 'mini has been the ultimate travel CPAP, both in a hotel room, and on planes.
