URGENT - Denver, Colorado

Post by aspen » Thu Sep 27, 2018 7:51 am

Just flew in for a conference. Security was hard on my machine - allowed hose and mask to fall through conveyor belt, but more importantly machine isn’t humidifying anymore.

I searched and it seems there could be a loose connection.

Does anyone know anyone who fixes this sort of thing in Denver area?

Long shot I know but I’m in trouble ...

Did you get your machine through a chain DME? It's a long shot but you could contact the emergency number on your equipment and see if they could loan you something until your back home. The emergency number would be from the DME not the maker of your machine. Some DMEs are good for nothing it seams but others might just be useful sometimes.

On a side note how in the world did security manage to get your hose and mask outside of your cpap bag so that it could be eaten but the conveyor belt? They should have scanned it as is.

Sorry your travel so far has been less then fun. Hope you manage to find a solution for your equipment fast and as stresslessly as possible.

Wish you luck.

Is the machine itself still working? Did you use it last night? If so, what was the experience like? Have you ever used the machine before without humidification? Are you aware that many of us do fine without humidification?

I imagine that as Denver is normally a high, dry location, humidity would be necessary. I suggest you look for DME's there who could possibly look at the machine.

Don't know if this is your problem, but I did notice that the heated humidifier dod not work at higher altitudes such as Quito, the Atacama Dessert, and Shangri-La, China (yes, that's a real place). That was a Everest-3 CPAP (that company is out of business). When I returned to lower altitudes, it worked fine. Also, the preheat seemed to work at these altitudes. Many have said this was nuts, but this behavior was observed on three occasions at three different times.

Note that all of these were considerably higher elevations than Denver.

There is a known fail in thePRS1 humidifiers. At about 3 years my humidifier crapped out altogether. The issue is wiring in the main unit, not the humidifier itself. It may just be coincidental that it happened now to your machine.

It could have been for sure - although he shook it looking for drugs. Like ... really?

They pulled it out, shook things, three it back in with the mask hanging out.

I banged on the plexiglass for them to stop the conveyer as it fell through the belt and got yelled at.

I don’t have an rx for the machine

Will get it in November ... makes everything complicated!

Machine working; no, I glue shut with no humidification even in a non-dry climate.

Bingo!

Googled. Found a medical equipment provider on these road as hotel, hotel shuttle took me.

Fabulous fabulous people.

They sent me back to the hotel with a dream station for a deposit.

Thankfully because Of this group I’m good with set up.

Never so grateful for humidity!

Oh good, I was going to say I'm in Denver and I have an extra machine, but not an extra heated hose.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

Don't forget to file a formal complaint for the damage due to negligence.
