Battery back up?
I live in S Florida and power outages are common. Anyone have recommendations for battery powered generator that could power a CPAP for minimum 8 hours? I am not looking for a bulky, outdoor, gas powered generator rather something that is compact, battery powered, and can run in the house. Thought maybe someone in the community might have some hands on experience.
Re: Battery back up?
Refer to my guide linked in my sig. The basic recommendation is an AGM mobility scooter battery, size U1 (35 amp-hours, 24 lbs, $65), described in detail about 12 posts down. Please come back with any questions, and the model of your pump, settings, and need for humidity would be helpful.Pats 4 six wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:37 pmI live in S Florida and power outages are common. Re: Battery back up?
Thank you for very fast and detailed reply. To your question I use ResMed Air10. I have pressure set at 11.0 and use level 4 humidifier. DC 24V, 3.75A. I don’t think this has heated hose option, to be honest I had never heard of that before I read the threads below. (More product info.... Device #698, catalog#37015, batchcode 1268538: R370-4102/1)

Forgot to ask you a question... can you comment on how one connects the power from a battery type such as AGM to the CPAP? Ie not a simple plug in.

Get OSCAR
Accounts to put on the foe list: dataq1, clownbell, gearchange, lynninnj, mper!?, DreamDiver, Geer1, almostadoctor, sleepgeek, ajack, stom, mogy, D.H., They often post misleading, timewasting stuff.

The parts should be listed in the thread. The battery gets a cord with color coded rings on the battery end, the other end is a quick connector that either goes to the charger (comes with matching quick connector) or an adapter with a cigarette socket that matches the plug on the required ResMed DC adapter. It sound like a "Rube Goldberg" arrangement, but it make sense when you see it.Pats 4 six wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 6:05 pmForgot to ask you a question... can you comment on how one connects the power from a battery type such as AGM to the CPAP? Re: Battery back up?
I am using a Medistrom Pilot Plus 24 with my Resmed Airsense 10 autoset. This setup rides out any power outages from several minutes to quite a few hours. I get extended backup coverage with the addition of the Co-Pilot 24. The Medistrom is a Lithium battery that is always located between the power outlet and the APAP like a UPS. This is quite pricey. Looking back, the cost benefit of the Co-Pilot isn't worth it IMO. The Pilot 24 can be taken for long trips on airplanes as well.
There is a 12 volt version for the Philips Respironics Dreamstation and other 12 volt APAPs. There is now a "lite" version.

Re: Battery back up?
I bought a Poweradd PilotPro battery pack from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DN ... UTF8&psc=1), a 12V DC Female car cigarette lighter socket (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008U ... UTF8&psc=1) and the ResMed OEM 12-24V DC Converter from CPAP.com. The total was about $200 shipped. On my AirSense 10 AutoSet with slimline tubing and humidifier off and all climate controls off, I get 16 hours of use from the battery. That is 2 full nights of sleep for me.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Re: Battery back up?
Do you need a humidifier in south FL when the A/C won't work during a power outage?
