What do you do with your hose?

Post by joeljjk11 » Sun Aug 12, 2018 6:25 pm

I realized that my hose occasionally pulls on my mask so I taped it to the top of my headboard to keep it out of the way. What do you do with your hose? I have seen a few hose holders on amazon and was wondering if anyone has tried them. Or what do you do with your hose?

Thanks!
Joel

it simply hangs down between the bedside cabinet and the bed. it doesn't bother me.

I just lay it out across my chest, and point the exhaust vent on my mask forward,....no problems.

I've got one of those 3m 'command' hooks stuck above the headboard (short headboard) and the hose goes through a velcro loop that's attached to that. it drops the hose down around the middle of the bed, and works well for my modest purposes.

Depends on the mask.

For lightweight masks like the P10, I use a hose clip to to attach the short mask hose (near the supply hose coupling) to my sleep shirt to help keep the hose position consistent as I turn in my sleep. For other masks, including the F20 nasal mask and the Dreamware masks, I use a microphone stand with a boom arm and some velcro to hold the hose overhead. The boom arm on the mic stand is longer, stronger and more adjustable than the ready made hose stands. And a bit of height allows enough free swinging slack for me to turn in my sleep without any of the hose touching me or my pillow But not everyone wants a mic stand hanging over their bed.

Some people strap the CPAP machine to their head and use a short hose:

While I don't think you are serious, the transcend uses vapor barrier disks to trap moisture on the mask side of the circuit. You can see that the mask vent is placed outside of the vapor barrier.

I use a hose holder. This one-

It holds it out of the way and I really like it. :D

After trying quite a few masks I'm still partial to the Dreamwear, which has the hose connect at the top-rear of the mask. I just route the tube behind my headboard and bring it up over the top wherever my head is going to be and connect.

Same here. I put a small couch pillow on top of it to hold it in place. This pillow doubles as a perch for my kindle.

I have a swivel plant hanger screwed to the wall above the corner of the bed closest to my pillow.
with part of an old cheapie fishing pole duck-taped to the arm of the hanger;
and linked scrunchies hanging from the line guide eyelets.
I thread my hose through the bottom scrunchies,
and the whole array follows my movements all night.
When I arise, I hang my mask over a loop in the hose.
I avoid touching it when the cat is in the room.
If it moves, she thinks it is a bird.

Like Posey, I ordered a simple hose holder from Amazon with a base that slips in between my mattress and box spring. At the top of the holder is a coiled cable that you run the hose through. Before that, the hose had a tendency to hang low and "pull" on my mask, which I didn't particularly like. With the holder, the hose runs up to the top of my headboard and then down to the machine. Works a treat for me. It might just be the best $12 I spent in a long time.

This is literally the one I got and it's great:

I thought the pic was funny, but I didn't realize it uses vapor. Thanks.

As Posey does, I use the Hose Buddy. I have been using it for 7 or 8 years. It was a no brainer for me. I was fighting the hose draped over me all night, when I didn't need to. I eventually yanked the hose and it ripped. I've probably said a hundred times, the hose hanger was the best cpap investment I've made. I felt like I was treating myself... like a cold one after a hard day! Get a hose hanger.... I guarantee you'll not regret it and you'll be glad you did!
