sd card

Post by ranman » Fri Aug 10, 2018 9:55 pm

I have a PR System One ReMstar 60 Series Auto machine. My Respironics SD card (2GB) has become corrupt and can no longer be used. I understand that the amount of space needed to track sleep using the Encore Basic Software is minimal.

My question is this. Is there a minimum or maximum size of card that must be used? It is almost impossible to find even an 8GB card and most stores only have a starting off size of 16GB. Would either of these cards work to replace the original 2GB card?

Regards
Ranman

any size up to 32 will work. i tried them. more may work. you can also use a phone style mini card as long as its in it's regular size sd adapter that it comes in.

Seconding what Uncle Bill said. Go ahead and use whatever one you find.

While what the card now contains cannot probably be recovered, the card itself may be made useable with the SD Association's formatter "overwrite" function followed by the Norton or Windows repair function. You can find the formatter program at: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ You may find clues to the reason your card became corrupt in the FAQ section of the linked page. The SD Association recommends only formatting SD Cards with this program in order to retain all transfer functionality between devices that support SD Cards.
The overwrite function is significantly slower than the "quick" mode but corrects some errors. AFAIK, xPAPs support up to SDHC cards reliably - above that may be problematical. You will find information about the various card types and capacities at: https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/choice ... index.html
You may find some SD Cards from CPAPs on eBay by searching for "cpap sd card" (without the quotes). They tend to be low capacity cards (4 GB or so) but less likely to be counterfeit than larger capacity cards and will cost around $10-20 plus shipping. I have bought several in the past without problems. Both ResMed and Philips (including Respironics) are members of the SD Association and as such agree to the design standards for SD Card use, thus should support the formatting standards inherent in the formatter program.
