Resmed noisy

Post by Rf10 » Sun Jul 29, 2018 10:38 am

I’ve read other posters writing about noisy machines but haven’t seen any general answer to this problem. Mine is intermittently noisy, almost never when I start the night and am awake enough to analyze well. But I am sure it is not related to leaks. Is the manufacturer aware of this problem? Does anyone have an analysis? Should I have my machine serviced? I’m afraid if I take it back it will not exhibit the symptom.

What kind of noise is it and where specifically do you think it's coming from.... realizing what you said about being awake, etc. As far as servicing goes, why not talk to the DME?

There's nothing for the manufacturer to be aware of. The machines are very quiet normally, unless yours has some issue.

However, we can't just guess what's wrong with yours.

I got a Resmed Air curve a year ago. It was very quiet no noise at al. Then it started to whistle. I tried everything, changed mask, changed hose checked humidifier nothing helped. Then whistle turned to squeal and the longer it was on the highrr pitched and louder it got..called DME they said bring it in. They listened agreed it was pretty annoying. They gave me a new machine. They said I wwas lucky it was still under warranty for 2 minths. The Resmed is an exxtremely quiet machine. If you have an issue take to DME. We as the user can only do so much and may possinly make the matter worse. I have a cooperative DME and realize not everyboody does, but that may be your best line of defensd. If noise is too bad you won't use it.

Record the noise if you can. It can't hurt.

I agree, record the noise. Also, check to be sure that your humidifier is completely closed and seated. That can cause some strange whistling and other noises.

I had a similar problem with my ResMed. I changed out all the accessories (had backups of hoses, mask, tub) but didn't seem to make a difference. Usually, my machine is very quiet. I spoke with my doctor who sent a request to the DME to repair/replace. I took it in and was able to reproduce the sound after 5 minutes or so. It was still under warranty so they replaced it. Keep a record of your serial numbers for reference later (if there are any problems with the DME). Also, be sure not to leave any of your equipment like masks or hoses especially if they give you a new case.
