Inside of one nostril pretty sore
Inside of one nostril pretty sore
So I have been using the swift for over a week now and have noticed today that one side of my nose up inside is really sore. I'm sure this is common, but any advice on what to put up there to help it???

I was told by the person I bought my nasal pillows mask from to rub vaseline on my nose but then was told here that it would wreck the pillows so i didn't use it and got a different type mask.
Recently, I was told again to use the vaseline and was told it would not ruin the material so I decided that even if it did ruin it I would just buy new pillows. For a few days now I have used the mask with vaseline and for the first time I do not have a sore nose.
When i used to get the sore I used antibiotic ointment (fucidin) for a couple of days to get rid of it. Good luck. It is frustrating when you are in pain.

I also use the ayr gel which works very well. I also use a saline nasal spray to moisturize the nasal passages. If you have a humidifier on your machine, you may try turning the setting up one. I don't know if you sleep on your side, but if you do, the mask may be pulling a bit on that side causing pressure in your nostril/nare, so switching sides for a few nights might help. Some people using the Swift have success by routing the hose up and over there head rather than letting it hang down. I don't know if that would relieve nasal pressure, but it is a thought. I'm sure if you do a search for "Swift" you will get many ideas.
Take care.

The part I would be concerned about is that if it's ruining the pillows, it's doing so by breaking down the plastic chemically. I wouldn't want the byproducts of that getting pumped into my lungs.Elle wrote:so I decided that even if it did ruin it I would just buy new pillows.
I like to stick with water based just to be on the safe side.
Blarg, I've been paranoid for months about using the petrolium jelly simply because I was warned against it on this forum. I convinced myself, however, (with the help of the RT) that it was a matter of ruining the pillows.
After reading on here yesterday about chpastick I did switch to that and reading this i am glad I did. I had tried 'secaris' a water based gel and it didn't help. It seemed to wear off and I had the same pressure sore. The vaseline did the trick but obviously I don't want petrolium in my lungs. Thank you so much.
