My SD card has given up the ghost!

Post by DanceDiva26 » Sat Jul 07, 2018 6:02 am

My MicroSD card has finally given up the ghost. After 22 months of continuous usage in/out of CPAP machine/computer Sleepyhead won't "point" to it anymore. The CPAP machine also claims its only read-only, although I always have the arrow pushed up. Thinking that the Lock/Unlock tab was simply too loose, I stuck the card into a newer adapter. Still won't work.

I have lots of old microSD cards laying around...will they still work in my CPAP even if previously formatted for a camera/tablets/phones, etc.? Will just save me a trip to the store. Or I can just buy a new one, no problem.

But whether old or new will all my prior info be copied over to it? Or will Sleepyhead info simply start anew? I've made screenshots of my statistics page just in case.

Until I typed the above I didn't realize how long I've actually been on CPAP. I remember coming to this forum then, an utter newbie, ignorant and anxious. Thanks to all the help and support offered here, CPAP use has gone well for me! I've found my optimal settings (always under 1 - except for a few times during stressful times). I know I don't NEED to pull out the card every day, especially when my CPAP LCD has good numbers...but it has become a HABIT, as much as my morning coffee!

Almost all SD crds will do.

If you want true convenience, consider a Toshiba Flashair Wireless SD card.

https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-FlashAir ... B072SN7QK6

This SD card accesses your WiFi network, it never needs to be removed. No more forgetting it in computer, wear'n'tear from constantly moving it, switching the write protect tab.

Because the signal strength is so week your CPAP machine needs to be in fairly close proximity to your router.

I use one and love it.

Yes, any will work. It's a good idea to reformat it before use - https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+ ... e&ie=UTF-8

Sleepyhead keeps your old data and a backup of it on your computer.
I lost my card early on and replaced it. Sleepyhead has all my data.

And the machine will write all of her compliance data to the new card.

They told me that my DreamStation will write about six months of back data to a new SD card. You can pick up a new card rather inexpensively. You can use any suitable SD card.

Since you don't have your machine in your profile (only your mask), I can't say for sure whether your machine will be able to load retro-active data.

BTW, please update your profile.

But can you use it with an unsuitable SD card?

That is only the summary data the machine has in memory, at least with ResMed machines.

That's why I said "compliance data".

Unsuitable?
Please describe an unsuitable sd card--and where could one be found.
Perhaps for a prank?

How about one of those microSD to standard SD adapters... without the microsd card in it? :D

Another example of an unsuitable card is that the machine may not work with newer cards that are larger than 32 Gb. The standard changed to accommodate larger sizes.
