Increased Periodic Breathing with filters

Post by tbirdwilson » Tue Jun 19, 2018 5:32 am

I'm curious if any other CPAP users have experienced the following:

I was cruising along for months with a desirable AHI, usually between 2 and 3 and no periodic breathing. Then one particular morning I saw 8% PB, and on subsequent nights somewhere between 2-5% PB. AHI climbed, though not above 5. My wife thought she was hearing increased noise from the Dreamstation, so I pulled both the HEPA filter and the more durable pollen filter one night. Next morning, no PB. Okay, must be a clogged up pollen filter or HEPA filter. Replaced both. 4% PB the next morning. Removed filters from machine entirely for another night. No PB.

On the mornings after a night with PB readings, I don't feel any different. Still have energy throughout the day.

It seems evident that something is going on with my Phillps Dreamstation and that reduced airflow with filters is increasing either the incorrect reading of PB % or is actually causing me to experience more PB.

Curious if anyone else has had this experience, and whether I may need to replace this only 2 year old unit.
