REMstar Pro with C-Flex+

Post by Dog Slobber » Mon Jun 11, 2018 2:16 pm

Hi,

I have the opportunity to buy a Respironics REMstar Pro with C-Flex+.
Model number CA461(S,HS,TS)1 (Canada)
Which I believe is equivalent to the DS460 model number outside of Canada.

The intent is a backup/travel machine.

I currently have a ResMed Autosense 10 for Her which is set to Auto mode (8-13cm).

My main question is; Does this machine do Auto / APAP mode?

The price is $250 CDN or about $190 US.

Any other thoughts regarding the suitability are appreciated.

No. It won't do auto adjusting mode full time. At best some of those 460/461 models had a limited trial of auto mode and when the trial time was used up it wouldn't do auto mode anymore....and not all of those Pro models even had the trial of auto mode.

You would need model 560/561 to get full time auto mode availability in those P R System one models.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

A couple follow up questions.

Is there anyway to factory reset the machine to allow Auto-Trial?

Assuming it has Auto-Trial available still, is that mode equivalent to tradition APAP, but for a limited time?

I was originally prescribed 14cm CPAP but switched to APAP for comfort and to reduce aerophagia. As a backup travel machine is the value of this machine at $250 CDN or $190 US good value to use in a pinch.

Thank you!

If it has the auto trial mode available it is exactly like the full time auto mode for as long as it lasts.
It's limited to 30 days cumulative in that mode...doesn't have to be consecutive.
Some of the machines had 5 factory resets available to get more 30 days available...at best at total of 180 days in auto trial mode.
The first 30 plus the 5 resets at 30 each time.
Assuming none of the auto trial hours (if available) have been used up already.

I have no idea of the value in Canada...if here on the forum it would be hard to give it away.

Is it new or used?

Can you physically see it to see if it even has auto trial mode at all?

It is used, being sold privately on FaceBook's Marketplace.

I can go view it, if I wanted to.

However, given your comment about "having a hard time giving it away makes sense. I think I'll pass.

Although I am interested in getting a backup machine, there is no point settling for a subpar machine or one that won't suit me. My ResMed A10 is only 3 months old, I'll take my time and look for a better fit.

Thank you.

Check regularly with Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace. Besides another Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset or Autoset for Her, consider a Resmed S9 Autoset (avoid Escape Auto since its a brick). Here in Alberta, there is a used S9 Autoset without a hose or mask asking for $270 (was $300). I don't know the number of running hours. I would have considered this if I didn't just buy a new Airsense 10 autoset for her at just over CAD$800.

Amazon Canada has the Dreamstation Auto for as low as $635; Airsense 10 Autoset or Autoset for her as low as $670. All with free shipping within Canada. Not all prices have free shipping (ships from the US most likely; unknown duty amount is additional too).
