Myair results unerstand

Post by sleepyham » Thu May 24, 2018 1:52 am

I have had my airsense10 for just over a week. The myair app reports 95% or better on all of the nights but the number of events seems high and very variable. How can myair report excellent results with poor number of events?
Events so far 7.9, 4, 10.6, 15,9, 20.2, 5.8, 13.7, 10

my air reports excellent for every night including those with 15.9 and 20.2 events per hour.

I do not understand.

Help please

Which AirSense 10 machine model are you using?

Choices are
CPAP
Elite
AutoSet
AutoSet for Her

I think those scores are mainly figured on hours of use and how many times you turn the machine off and back on and with some leak numbers figured in. Meaning they don't really account for AHI...just hours of use and how many times you took the mask off.

Hopefully you will have a full data machine and can use available software to see what kind of apnea events you are having and when.

Of the above list of models....the CPAP model doesn't offer full data. Hope you aren't using it.

I have the Airsense10 Autoset.

I have already setup Sleepyhead and uploaded the information from the SDcard. There is a vast amount of data.

The myAir results give excellent 95% plus everynight but sure the significant figure is the events and even with a 0/5 for the events figure it is still possible to get 95% overall which doesn't seem sensible.

MyAir stuff is mainly for hours of use and mask on/off issues with a little leak stuff thrown in.

It's not really going to evaluate the therapy effectiveness itself. ResMed thinks that should be the doctors job.
But one would think that there should be a mention when the AHI of "maybe you should see your doctor".

Personally...I don't even bother with MyAir. I don't need a "score" to tell me how I slept or how many hours. I already know and I can either use the information on the screen or use software to see the details if I want to know more.

Care to share one of your typical high AHI nights? Any number of reasons why some nights have higher AHI than others and if the events are obstructive in nature they are usually easy to fix. Might be that you are on your back more some nights than others and need more pressure when on your back.
If we could see what you are seeing on those reports we could maybe offer some ideas.

See this thread for how to share images and what we like to see. Don't need to see everything that SleepyHead gives you.

welcome, sleepyham!

when you get a moment, would you go to the control panel and fill in your equipment so it will show up at the bottom of your posts, like it does on mine below?

this will help the experts here help you!

The MyAir 100 point score is not too meaningful, in my opinion.

70% is Usage time, with 7 hours or more getting full points. less than 1 hour gets 0

20% is leakage or mask seal. 10 L/min or less gets full points. 55 or more gets 0

5% is AHI or events per hour. 6 or less gets full points. 19 or more gets 0

5% is number of mask on/off events. 2 time or less for full points. 6 or more for 0.

I use an air sense 10 autoset- I check MyAir just to see the score..
My AHI last night was 0.2, leak rate was good etc.. There are no more nocturnal visits to the loo. I'm told we had a horrendous thunderstorm night before last and I slept through it!!
So, is MyAir useless for me? Or would sleepyhead give me any info that I need?
Bev (^..^)

As long as your treatment is working for you, there is probably no need to use sleepyhead. However, if your AHI starts creeping up or other things start bothering you, then you should consider using sleepyhead. I used My Air when I first started my treatment, but my AHI was never as low as your is. After starting to use sleepyhead, my AHI is similar to what yours is.

SleepyHead would definitely give you more info, especially if your AHI creeps up in the future.
That is my position now. I am using SleepyHead to evaluate how different adjustments affect my sleep quality measurements.

The leak rate info on sleepyhead is more precise, but basically, like Okie said, if things are really good, myair is ok to just get confirmation of that. It's when there's a *problem* that myair is useless.

I have an Aircurve BiPap machine. Not sure if its similar, bit, If you can get into the clinician menu and sleep report, the data is more detailed. Not sure why they lock that out from users, but whatever. Just make sure not to alter any settings while your in it.

Maybe he means accidential changes. For a new user it's best to look and see all the settings and write them down first. Then to know why a change is needed before a change is made.
