Bipap setting

Post by nick2008 » Sat Apr 07, 2018 3:10 pm

Can you help me understand these bipap settings? I put my best guess down. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a Dreamstation and these are the setting I would like to understand in terms of the affect on co2 and o2.

Ipap: I believe high ipap settings helps exhaust co2
epap: I believe high epap settings help with better o2 levels.
PS in general I believe high values helps exhaust co2

The dreamstation has a PS up and a PS down value. Why would you ever sett these different?

Thanks

your guesses on ipap and epap are basically right.

PS is just the difference between epap and ipap.

philips machines let you set a minimum and maximum PS, and the machine can wander between them... I don't know what advantage that has over a fixed PS... or how smart the machine is about changing it.
