Hi Pete,
I remember the first time I had that "smooth feeling" when waking in the morning.
I would take that as a good sign that you are getting used to your therapy.
The good news is that if your anything like me you will eventually get so used to cpap that you will have that same feeling right at the beginning of the night when you first mask up.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!
I was getting ready to write this same post. I just recently got a respironics mseries plus with cflex and i have been on it for almost two weeks. First machine dud very quickly. But I have now slept with it all night for the past two nights and have felt very light on the air in the morning. Your post caught my eye before i wrote my post.
You get so used to the pressure I wake up and think "I'd better put my mask on". You're doing well.
Peter
