Help me interpret my 1st week Encore Pro results :)

Post by canuck88 » Thu Feb 01, 2007 6:03 pm

Here are the stats after my first week with my Remstar Pro2 machine and ComfortGel mask. My AHI seems pretty high at 10.1 - my original sleep study said I had an AHI of about 20 untreated (about 100ish events in 5 hours).

Any advice / interpretation would be very much appreciated!

Averages:

Usage: 7.1 hours
Pressure: 10.0 (prescription)
Leak Rate: average is around 35 l/min (using ComfortGel)
Large Leak: 0

Total Events: 71.7 avg
Apneas: 58.7 avg
Hypoapneas: 13.0 avg
Flow Limitations: 0
Snores: 1.5 avg

AHI: 10.1
OAI: 8.2
HI: 1.8
SI: 0.2
AS (time in apnea): 12.4 minutes
AA (average apnea duration): 12.6 secs
Variable breathing is averaging around 35%

Could you be mouth breathing?

Hi Canuck,
My AHI seems pretty high at 10.1
10.1 is high considering most of it is apnoea. Hypopneas are less dangerous than apnoea because in hypopnea the lungs are still exchanging gases. In apnoea it's totally blocked, so you want to get that down under 5 if you can.
Leak Rate: average is around 35 l/min
That's a little high, equates to 0.58 l/s on my setup. Do you wake up with a dry mouth?

Good luck,

Peter

Not mouth breathing - wife is good at detecting that, and I have no dry mouth or throat issues at all. Also, that leak rate is not that bad - optimal with that mask at my pressure (10.0) is 25.5, so I'm only 8-10lpm off... anything over 50 and I'd be worried. Regardless, I think that leak rate is off somehow... there is no way there is 1/2 liter of air per second being lost... maybe that's cflex being counted? (the software shows cflex being off, but it's really on 3)...

Anyone else??

Should I mess with my pressure? 8.2 OAI seems high, no??
