Help me to understand

Post by quilterB » Thu Feb 01, 2007 7:32 am

Well, I just had my best AHI ever!! 1.8 My time in a large leak was almost 2 hours. I don't understand!! I thought leaks would increase the AHI.

Thanks for the input,
Linda

I'm going to be interested in the replies you get as well, QuilterB.

Do you design your own quilts? Hand tie? Machine sewn? My sister-in-law makes BEAUTIFUL quilts, machine sewn. I've always been "gonna" but never had sat down and attempted one. One of my neighbors now long deceased actually had a quilting group thru her church and they still made the hand sewn, hand tied quilts! I still have the one she brought down when we got burned out of our trailer while building our house. I treasure it as much for the fact she gave it to me as for its quality, etc.

At U of KY in the Ovarian Cancer Screening Trial waiting room they have a BEAUTIFUL antique quilt hanging on the wall. The fabric "finish" and colors are quite interesting. Of course, it is behind glass so you can't "feel" the texture of the materials but it looks like a satin or sateen "finish" to it. I wonder, how many years ago did they have tafeta?

I have a neighbor who even makes lovely quilts out of old stretch knit fabrics. I had been told the stretch knit fabric scraps didn't make good quilts but hers sure turn out nice! I have a LOT of stretch knit fabric here and have been tempted ...

I haven't sewn in so many years I don't even remember how to thread my sewing machine! And heaven only knows where the book for it has gone!

The AHI probably does increase. However, your xPAP's ability to record
the events is also compromised with a large leak.

+ Aussie heated hose.

As mentioned previously, if you're in a large leak, the machine can't record data effectively because it can't tell what's going on.

Thanks for the input. It makes sense I guess. I am a little disturbed by the time in large leak, because it wasn't something I was aware of like when I first started therapy. And it happened again last night, only last night my AHI was 6.2. This is sure a numbers game isn't it.

Thanks,
Linda

Ha! You want a numbers game? My numbers are all over the map even w/same mask, what feels like a good fit w/no obvious leaks, no dry mouth and same pressures and humidity. Go figure.

I've decided to heck w/it, let how I feel determine the situation. But I can't help but keep checking the data every morning out of curiosity!!

So far I am NOT seeing any correlation between how rested I feel and any particular pressures or leak rates or anything else. Mebbe my sleep pulmo can but I sure can't!

That pretty much sums it up for me also. Still feel compelled to check the data every morning though. Oh well!
