I have used CPAP machines for twelve years now. I have just discovered this forum and am quite impressed. Most of what you talk about is over my head. I found your site while searching for a way to turn my pressure up. After all these years, I am aware when I need the machine turned up. My Dr. recently retired to his sailboat and I have grown weary of making appointments, and the huge expense of these sleep studies. It took me about a half and hour to figure out the secret code and I was finally able to change my pressure from 11 to 12. I feel much better now but am wondering if I should up it a little more. My Remstar Pro is adjustable in by .2 increments. How does one know if you are getting to much air? Thank you for your time.
I just joined and have a question
Welcome to the forum. Feel free to ask questions and use the Search button - it's full of info.
Remstar Pro -- is it the Remstar Pro 2, or the new M series Pro? In other words, did you get it this year, or 5 years ago? The reason I ask is because newer machines have the capabilities to monitor your progress and can help narrow down your ideal pressure.
But, I don't think you should bump up the pressure more than 1. Especially if you don't have the software and can monitor progress.
Do a search for Encore Pro, and you will see what I'm referring to. It's great monitoring software if you are pretty much doing your own thing.
Lastly, please complete your profile equipment section, so we can see what equipment you are using.

Welcome, tvfrfireguy wrote: Most of what you talk about is over my head.
when I first started i felt the same way overwhelmed with information.
just keep reading posts and before you know it all of this starts to make sense.
If your machine records data it is definitely worth it to get the card reader and the software.
The data can tell you exactly what your needs are.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body totally worn out and screaming,WOO HOO what a ride!
Tooly, congrats on your upcoming 1 year anniversary on the forum.
Unfortunately, FireGuy doesn't have the Pro 2 - only the regular Pro so he can't get anything other than compliance.
FireGuy, just hang in there. I think you should stay with the 12 pressure for awhile and see how you feel. I go more with how I feel than I do the data. But the data software is great to have if you feel lousy.
Good Luck.
