swift nasal pillow system

Post by kevkee » Thu Jan 18, 2007 10:03 pm

I think this mask suits me the best so far.
This is my third mask since starting on cpap therapy.
I am however getting infections and soreness from this mask.

Anyone experiencing similiar problems?

Or is there a great mask out there for side sleepers

Hi Kevkee,

I'm a side sleeper and the Swift II suits me fine. To lie on the side with the tube, I just lie on the end of the pillow so the tube can hang down off the pillow. I don't have the air hose tied up, I like it loose.

Swift problem

Post by Coolhandace » Thu Jan 18, 2007 11:41 pm

I sleep on my side also. When I first starting using the swift it gave me a sore nose. I would put a small amount of antiseptic creme on my nose which seemed to help. After a couple of weeks the soreness went away and I no longer have a problem with it.

By the way I just picked up a free Optilife mask. My dealer said that Respironics is giving a free one to any Swift user. I like it better than the swift. The nasal pillow is not as wide as the swift making sleeping on my side easier. Before the Swift nasal piece would hit my pillow breaking the air seal. It is also much quieter than the swift. The part that sat against my cheek would put a big mark on me for most of the day and I have a much lighter mark with the Optilife that goes away in the AM. I think they have improved the swift design and I plan on staying with this one. It’s a winner.

coolhandace,
Where are you?
What DME gave you the Optilife?
How are you handling the hose?
I have my Swift hose going up to the harness and then onto the bedstead to let me roll over.

I'm very interested in this mask.

Hi -- I have the Swift and It was a blessing--Tried other masks and was very uncomfortable--This was the answer--How do you get the other mask free--Did you have to go through your doctor or just show a scrip???

Optilife

I would put in a call to your DMA and ask them about the deal. I live in Salt Lake City. Praxair gave me the Optilife. They said that the only catch is that they would call me for feedback in a week.

I sleep on my side facing the side of the bed. I clip the hose to the side of the mattress at about stomach level. I do roll onto my back sometimes. I am not being aroused as much but I don't know if it is because of the new Optilife or the new Respironics CPAP machine I picked both up at the same time. Have Fun.
