Noobie-1st day! ResMed Card?

Post by jiarby » Thu Jan 18, 2007 11:00 am

Hello...

My DME brought by a snappy looking ResMed S8 elite w/ warming humidifier yesterday. It came with a smartcard (labeled ResMed ResScan Data Card).

I read all the threads here about smartcards and card readers but am still confused about what I need to suck the data off this card on my PC.

I see that the REMSTAR with the DT3500 Card Reader and Encore Pro (with myEncore add on) is a usable package, but I don't have a REMSTAR!
I have the S8 elite.

Would I still use the DT3500 card reader with the Encore Pro software, or is there a separate reader/software package?

I have a computer services business and can probably buy the readers wholesale but am not which reader or if Encore-Pro works with the RESMED Card.

Apologies if this has been asked 5000 times, but I did use the search and that just got me more confused. I almost bought the 3500 & ECPro, but then found out that I didn't have the REMSTAR, just the RESMED.

The DME thought it was the best thing on the market.

My pressure is 15..ugh. only got 2hrs on it last night before open mouth blowouts made me crazy. I have the Respironics comfortgel Nasal Mask. No mention of open mouth problems during my sleep study.
Will try again tonight!

Welcome to the forum!

The software and card reader for your machine are no longer available in the U.S. thanks to ResMad's new policies (as of Oct. 1 2006). Apparently it's still available in Australia, so if you do some searching on this forum (or maybe someone will post the link) you may be able to get it.

Best wishes,

For the mouth blowouts; many of us tape our mouths shut at night.

Thanks for the replies...

Am I correct that the EncorePro will not work with the ResMed card? Is the DT3500 the right card reader?

I will try the tape... what do you use?? The white first aid tape?

Encore Pro will only work with a Respironics card.....not ResMad.
The DT3500 is NOT the cardreader for the ResMad machines....only Respironics machines.

THIS is the cardreader you would need: (unfortunately, CPAP.COM can't sell them anymore.....nor can any other dealers in the U.S.)

Everyone has a favorite tape. Mine is Kendalls tenderskin paper tape. I have exzema and need to be careful what I put on my skin. The tenderskin tape sticks well and comes off easily with a minimum of pain. I get it at a medical supply store, approx $9 for a box of 12 rolls, each 1" x 10 yds.

I'm using an ACS ACR38 smart card reader, and it works fine. There's a picture of one with the Resmed card at the bottom of this page.

I purchased mine from the site link in that post also.

Hi jiarby,

If you decide you want the Resmed Card reader two of the best Aussie sites are:

Good luck
