I'm probably headed to South Africa on business shortly. Aside from the need to obtain an electric adapter, has anyone encountered any issues bringing their equipment overseas?

Customs vary from country to country and even airport to airport. I've yet to encounter a screener who did not know exactly what he or she was looking at when going over the cpap. They are real common these days and not out of the ordinary at all. Some seem to look closer than others at them for some reason that I can't quite figure out. My feeling is that you'll be fine with your machine. As you probably know, never check it as baggage and never let it get very far away from you. With the newer models of xpaps, you don't even have to worry about power conversion as they do it for you. You will need the proper plug adapter though. I'd check the manual on your machine regarding that particular issue.
Sucking Wind since Feb '06.
I agree with what's been said above. I traveled in France, Japan, and Canada without any problems at all.
I do suggest taking, in addition to a plug adapter, an extension cord with you. If you use distilled water for your humidifier and are afraid you won't be able to buy it locally, you can carry it in your packed luggage (using lexan - or whatever its called - water bottles)
