Poll: Aussie Hose from sleepzone.

Post by SelfSeeker » Fri Dec 29, 2006 9:44 am

To late for me to ask this question. My Aussie hose is in transit.

Someone was asking about the Aussie hose on chat, so I got the idea for the topic/poll.

I know there are many who are happy with their Aussie hose. Is anybody disappointed with their hose?

Any other thoughts?

Any other option I should include in the poll?

When using my FF mask, I turn off the humidifier heat, and turn on
the heated hose. It keeps my nose from freezing. With the CL2 mask,
I run a heat setting of 2 on the heated humidifier in a cool room, and
with the heated hose on, I no longer get rain-out in the hose or mask.

I'm seriously thinking about getting one since I've read so many positive posts about it solving the "rain-out issue". Hopefully, I'll feel I can spring for one sometime this year. I think the only thing that I'm concerned with is how to keep it clean and dry since I would only have the one hose unless I buy two at the same time. I now have two regular hoses that I alternate with daily and that keeps one ready for use every night.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and I'm wishing all a Happy New Year! Image

I've seriously considered getting one. I don't have regular rainout problems however there are a few mornings where I wake up with a cold nose and some condensation in the mask. The hose itself is dry.

Would this heated hose help?

Aussie Hose

Post by carlitguy » Fri Dec 29, 2006 10:28 pm

Mine just arrived today. It took a while to get here but when you consider the time of year it wasn't bad. Tonight will be the first night. I am surprized by the quality of it. I sleep with the old hose under the sheets and I thought it might get hot but the Aussie hose is well insulated so I do not see this as being an issue. I will post here how I do. I would like to add an on/off switch as it has a power supply that has to be unplugged each morning.

I've had the Aussie hose for a while and wouldn't be without it. Prior to getting mine I'd wake up with terrible rainout and a cold nose. I sleep in a very cool room.

As far as cleaning it, I don't. I disconnect it each morning and hang it on a hook in my bedroom. I think RG and a few others mentioned they never clean theirs also. I also have a Comfort Sleeve on mine that I am able to wash. It's a nice to snuggle down with the heated hose and soft fleece cover, kinda like a security blankie.

Aussie Hose

Post by carlitguy » Fri Dec 29, 2006 11:43 pm

As I just mentioned in a previous post I just received my hose today.
When I was hooking it up to go to sleep on my GoodKnight 420E I found that the internal pressure hose protrudes well up in my Comfort Gel mask. It certainly will not interfere with the mask usage but on the hose that came with the machine the internal pressure hose ended about an inch from the top.
Is there any benefit to it being up in the mask or should I cut it back??

Hi Dean,

May I suggest you post this question on a different topic, so it does not get lost in the poll.

Hopefully someone can answer your question.

Good Luck.

Well I got my first night in and I am not disappointed! I did have some rainout but that really wasn't an issue as I turned the humidifier right up. If I had of done that in my pre-hose days I would have drowned. I was actually amazed at how little rainout did occur. I will now turn the humidifier down a little tonight and I am sure there will not be any at all.
I woke up with absolutely clear sinuses and able to breathe really well through my nose.
If this were pre-hose days I would have been a little congested.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

Thanks for suggesting I start a new topic on the pressure hose question. I did.

I would like to know if anyone sent the bill to the insurance. It would be a pleasant surprise if someone actually got reimbursed for it.

You may have to have a prescription to make it a billable item for insurance......?
Unless your deductible was reached, there probably wouldn't be much of a monetary advantage to submitting it to your insurance.

I would assume that the billing code would be:
* A7037 is CPAP tubing, long and short hoses.
