Another question

Post by Barbee » Wed Feb 28, 2018 12:04 pm

So Friday I have my first appointment with my sleep Dr since starting cpap. They called today to comfirm the appt. and said I need to bring in my machine, mask, and hose. Is this normal procedure? My machine does not have an SD card in it.

Usually a new machine will have an sd card for compliance purposes. Possibly your machine is usimng the cell modem to transmit data to the DME. You should have an Sd card if you want to use Sleepyhead to monitor you own therapy. Why don't you ask why you are bringing all of this?

It is normal for my Dr, but since I do my own adjustments they do not really care. It is so they can help solve issues for those foolish enough to not get help in the cpaptalk forum.

Also, many places no longer use the SD card for either compliance or optimization, it can all be handled with the cell phone data transmission system.

Is it your machine, or a loaner?
Maybe they want to swap.

Thanks all. Yes my machine transmits via cell phone. There is a slot for an SD card but the DME told me I dont need it. I know now that I do need it if I want to do my own thing with the help of this board. I just thought it was strange that I needed to bring the whole shebang in hose mask and all ...but thought I would ask this group since there is so much to learn. And never fear LSat, I will be asking WHY when I go in on Friday lol

They told me to bring mine when I come in for my first appointment after using my machine for 6 weeks. This is so the tech or Dr. can make adjustments to the pressure if need be.

Maybe they just want to check everything over since you're new. More attention than many people get.

I bet thats it, too. I realized this morning that since I picked up my machine direct from the DME, the sleep Dr has not been involved other than calling in the Rx. I believe I will call my insurance company today as well, and see if this is my machine or a loaner. Thanks all for the help. I will report back after I find out some answers.
