Resmed F20 Full Face Problem solved

Post by Hounds3 » Mon Jan 29, 2018 6:01 am

I had been getting bad AHI and didn't sleep well with the mask. my usual mask is a marriage FX nasal and it works great, and gets good numbers. I got the FFM to use with colds or other sinus issues. after reading comments on this board and the net in general I upped my pressure from 9cm to 10.6cm. I was getting ahi of 35-37 and after upping the pressure I am 4.7. and slept well. I thought I had a mask problem but it was a pressure problem. I have an airsense 10, so any advanced data Is not available, but my ahi numbers and a good nights sleep told the story. I appreciate this board for having the data and experiences of the members. my dr recommended another sleep study ( which I cant afford), and the medical supply had me come back in so they could check it out and make sure it fit. neither was necessary.

I also use the F20. After reading recommendations on this forum concerning pressure adjustments, I raised my minimum from 7.0 to 9.0 (9.0 was the sweet spot during my sleep study). I also raised the maximum pressure to 14.0, which was 2.0 above my maximum pressure at the time. Prior to these adjustments, my AHI was almost always in the 1.5-2.5 range. Since making the change, I've had these numbers: 0.41, 0.54, 0.12, 1.04, 1.05, 1.56, 1.54, 1.11, 1.02, 0.50, 1.01, 0.83, 1.04, 0.25, 1.20, 0.56, 0.86, 0.50, 0.76, 0.13, 0.42, 0.92, 1.16, 0.71, and 0.56. I never took the opportunity to thank whomever made this specific recommendation, but it certainly improved an already good situation and I actually feel better. Whoever you were, thanks!

You probably already know when the time comes to replace your machine, get an AutoSet. With the max and min pressures set properly, it would have automatically adjusted the pressure and avoided those 35-37 AHI nights.

Yes, i will get an autoset next time. When i had my sleep study they sent the info for the machine and the mask to my family dr. He doesnt have a clue about cpap, neither did i then, and supply shop just called and said pick it up. Now i know what i want. But for now this will do. Thanks for the feedback.
