Too much humidity causing mask leak

Post by rickhowe » Sat Jan 27, 2018 7:33 am

During this cold dry weather, I had the humidity set pretty high (6 on a scale of 1-8) for my machine. Then I noticed that I was getting a high-pitched air leak in my full-face mask; it would come and go. I could adjust the mask, and it would stop temporarily. Finally figured out that I was getting water droplets in the mask, that we causing leaks. And if the water moved or evaporated, the leak would go away. Finally I turned down the humidity until it stopped. Now at about 2 (on a scale of 1-8). Mouth a little dryer in the morning (I'm a mouth breather), but no noise.

You mentioned in another of your posts that you were using the ResMed AirSense 10 machine..
So do you use the heated hose or the non heated hose?
If you are using the heated hose you could probably just increase the hose air temp and avoid the condensation in the mask without reducing the humidity.
If you are using the non heated hose...get a heated hose.
It will allow for condensation prevention without your having to sacrifice moisture in the air.
