Hello all...
Just diagnosed with OSA and got my CPAP machine three nights ago. So far, so good. My sleep study AHI was 98.6 per hour, so last night's 6.4 is quite an improvement. I used the machine for about 9 hours. I am tolerating the nasal pillows well, but it has only been a few nights so far.
I do have some questions:
1. I see a lot of discussion of "sleepytime" software. ResMed has "MyAir" which I registered for so I can see my CPAP stats on my iPhone. Does Sleepytime offer more and better data than "MyAir"?
2. When it's bathroom time, and for me that's several times a night, do you hit "stop" or do you just unplug the hose? I have done both but not sure what's recommended.
3. I have been snaking the machine hose between my pillow and the head of the bed, but I worry that it may end up more under the pillow and that may damage it. What are some of the "hose systems" you veteran CPAP users use to manage the hose?
Thanks for reading this, and thanks responses....

Re: First Timer here....
Sleepyhead is far better, it reads the data you need to make your treatment better, My Air gives you the data you could get off the machine screen, compliance, you know compliance, you were there.
As you get your treatment working you will probably find you no longer have to get up. I went from 4 or 5 trips nightly to zero. Welcome! Jim

Hi Scriffiea,
Welcome to the group. Your experiences so far seem to be fantastic! Keep going as you are, it seems to be working. As for some of your questions (and all my answers are from me and your mileage may vary).
I put my hose on top of my blankets. I find that now (after a few years on CPAP) I unconsciously move it manually where it needs to be. There are a few home management systems available to hang the hose above your head, I just never went that route. CPAP.com has a couple I believe.
One of the marvelous side effects of CPAP is deeper sleep. When that occurs, your kidneys slow production of urine and you often will not need (many?) trips to the bathroom. Time will tell. The CPAP process is a slow one. 97 AHI is high (mine was 92). I often go once a night now.
When you get SleepyHead keep track of your "numbers". AHIs are important as well as leaks and events. When I was first starting, I would pull my numbers every day (Thanks to all of you that took time with the newbie ). As I said, I have been using the same machine now almost 6 years, I can tell when my numbers are sliding as I feel drained in the morning. So I take a look at SleepHead. Often it is because my mask is leaking and it is time to change the pillow.
Sorry for the ;long reply. Do what you are doing. You are one of the fortunate ones that take the therapy as water falls off a duck
