Bloody nose

Post by leholst » Wed Dec 13, 2006 5:20 pm

OK, ........ it's a bit gross, but just in the last two days (ComfortGelmask) I've noticed that when I blow my nose in the morning there is a trace amount of blood. NO other symtoms or problems. Just a trace. Never had it before. It's happened for two days now. I usually need to blow my nose first thing in the morning when I'm downstairs for coffee...and, well, there is a trace amount of blood.

My humifier's set to 2, NO rainout, I wake up with NO dry nose or mouth. I sleep like a rock ...for the first time in memory......and NO other problems.

Anybody else catching this problem?

Only when I take an antihistamine (Allegra, Reactine, etc.) before bed.

That is EXACTLY what happened to me when I used RHINOCORT for several months.

Hello again,

It could be a bit of a dry nose. Try increasing the humidity.

There was a topic about bloody noses, but more blood. Someone mentioned that blood thinners or baby asprin, made their nose bleed while on CPAP

I can do this, I will do this.

My disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever worked in the health care field Just my personal opinions.

If it were me, I'd up the HH a notch. If it's just a trace it's probably due to dryness. You can also try a saline nasal spray. They are used to keep the nasal tissues moist.

I had trace amounts of blood in my nasal mucous nearly every morning for 20 years before cpap. When I started cpap it took me a few days to crank the humidifier setting up to the next to the highest setting. Since then (one year) I haven't once had blood in my nasal mucous.

Normally I would say crank up the humidifier a notch each night, but you are doing so well otherwise, I hate to say change anything.

I have been on cpap 3 months, I'm having the same proplem as you traces of blood on clearing my nose in the morning, I have the last two days cranked up the humidifier on it to 4, went out today and bought some more nasal sprays to my on going inventory (lol) Pulmonologist said he would write me a presc. to spray before going to bed, Its still not working, Hey when you have a hose blowing air in your nose all nite bound to irritate sensitive noses, like mine. Haven't given up might have to go to 5 on my hum.Might have to wear my flippers to bed.
