Dry Mouth Gums and Tongue - Air Leaking in Mouth

Post by zinnia » Sun Dec 24, 2017 3:40 pm

I have a Res Med AirFit N20 Nasal Mask. I recently switched from a nasal pillow. I am getting more air and feeling better about the mask. However, I can be sitting up reading with the mask on and am getting air in my cheeks. Sometimes this is caused by mouth breathing but my mouth is completely shut. I am getting dry mouth, gums and tongue. It is so uncomfortable. Having a difficult time with this and insomnia and not sleeping with the mask. I have my tube temperature set at 83 and my humidity at the highest level at 8.

You wouldn't have that problem with a FF Mask. You can open your mouth and breathe. You might still get dry mouth, but you wouldn't lose therapy through the mouth.

Definitely true. I have horrible dry mouth and gums each morning (or even if I wake up an hour after going to sleep). I use a FF-type mask.
