How to Stop Dry Mouth

Post by olalani » Thu Dec 14, 2017 7:26 pm

Hey Everyone,

I recently discovered that taping my mouth shut while using my nasal cpap has completely eliminated dry mouth, which is caused by cpap air escaping out of the mouth.

Any other users have a similar experience, or solution to dry mouth?

Use an AirFit p10.

I keep ice water by the bed, but that's only temporary fix, two Hershey Kisses, good to go. Juices Flowing.... Jim

Either keep taping or get a full face mask.
I've never even tried a nasal mask because I knew before I started this therapy that I was a mouth breather. However, using a full face mask, cool, "passover" humidification, learning to keep my tongue to the roof of my mouth and doing nasal cleansing before bedtime, I stopped mouth breathing (except for a few rare occasions when I've had a cold or was congested).
I knew my limitations and acted accordingly.
I figured that by the time I would have taken all the preventative steps to keep my mouth shut with a nasal mask, I might just as well wear a full face mask and simplify things.

Full face masks won't guarantee no dry mouth.
If it did we wouldn't have so many full face masks users who need some sort of moisturizing agent in the mouth at night.
Mouth breathing even with a full face mask and maximum humidity won't necessarily relieve the dry mouth.

Very true, but at least you won't lose your therapy air.
