still getting high leak readings

Post by debdix » Thu Dec 14, 2017 6:27 pm

Using resmed 10 cpap. Things going ok. Big improvements to ahi by using a chin strap. However, on MyAirWeb I am still getting really high mask leakage readings. I have tried to make sure it is fitting well when I am using it and don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Use Sleepyhead software and see if you can see what the problem is.
From the lack of information in your post, we have nothing to go on.

Since you mentioned using a chin strap, I'm guessing you're using a nasal mask.

Possibilities:
Mouth opening.
Bed pillow pushing your mask out of alignment. (less likely)

I'll second the mouth opening. the chin strap keeps the jaw tight, but does nothing to keep the mouth (lips) closed. some people tape the lips closed.

Yes, they would, because it's not a joke.

Google it.

Try my mask (click on it in my signature). It's usually priced about $119, sometimes less or on sale. Has pillows and covers mouth so can breathe through nose of mouth and not lose therapy air.

I agree. I would love to be able to use nasal pillows. I have tried several times, but I cannot keep my lips sealed well enough to make it work. I am not a mouth breather when I am awake, but I am when sleeping. I had UPPP surgery several years ago which alleviated many of my apnea symptoms for several years, but I am now using a bi-level machine.

I use the Ultimate Chipstrap in order to control mouth leaking. Works great.

Welcome to the forum.

Please read the Sticky thread at the top of the main forum topic page.
Please start your own thread for help with your problem. It's going to get lost here in this old thread.
Mr Smiley for leak management doesn't go away until you spend 30 % or more of the night over 24 L/min. SleepyHead will tell you that your leak management sucks long before Mr Frowny shows up.

Please review this thread for how to post and in what format to show the graphs. You have omitted some useful stuff and included stuff that isn't particularly useful.
viewtopic/t158560/How-to-post-images-for-review.html

Have you tried taping your mouth one night just to rule in or out that the big leak you are seeing is from mouth breathing or mask movement?
See the large leaks here...people might think mouth breathing but they are all mask movement issues because I taped my mouth this night.
