ClimateLine Tubing for S9 ?

Post by SayHelloForMe » Mon Nov 27, 2017 5:06 pm

Just wondering how often people change the ClimateLine™ Tubing for S9 for a new one. Mine is about 2 years old and looks like it might be leaking around where it fits into the s9 itself.

Mine is nearing 3 years old and not showing much wear, though that would be the most worn spot on it, since it's bent nearly 180° by my hose routing. If it's leaking you'll know it, it'll hiss or whistle. My cats punctured my last hose with their teeth, and that's how I knew.

When in doubt change it out and then examine the questionable end closely. Maybe even run some water in that end and see if it leaks.
While we can generally use the hoses for years with common sense care (I had one I retired after well over 10 K hours and going through 4 machines) sometimes stuff just gets weak and fails and it's not worth compromising our therapy.

Sheriff Buford once posted ways to recycle the old hose.
My favorite: split lengthwise and use as a cord minder for electronics.
Not a good idea: cat toy!

I change mine when they wear out... not before.

Leaks count as wearing out

Short of pet chewing on it, the most common breaking point for the high quality hoses are the ends - both the end of the machine and the end that the mask pokes into. My brother's hoses typically lasted about 2.5 years and that's always where they busted. In my case, it appears I step on the enough to break the wires so the heat part doesn't work. Only has to happen once, dang it. They don't leak though. So, I just keep a broken-wire one in my travel bag and just hope I don't have rainout when elsewhere.
