History: Have had apnea since college, Age 26 had nasal surgery primarily to fix snoring, dr. said there were other things wrong, fixed deviated septum, turbinate reduction, no help whatsoever. I think ENT's are quacks and can justify operating on anybody and when their surgery didn't help they throw you down the road to the next one. Did first sleep study when I was 33 after a friend did. Came back with Restless Legs Syndrome and not enough apnea episodes for a machine. Went on klonopin at night 0.5mg, not much, to knock down the RLS, it also helped with anxiety, for years I would get four good hours of sleep by sleeping on my side then the klonopin wore off If I took another one at 2am it carried over into the morning and I didn't like that.. Quit chewing tobacco and gained 50 pounds over the last 5 years. went into sleep study again. 24 episodes in an hour on my back, they made it a split study and at 1am they put a cpap on me. Sleep Tech determined 12 was my setting.

Received CPAP a week ago, ResMed AirSense 10 autoset, F20 medium mask, a couple questions.

I am use to sleeping on my side since that gave me fewer episodes, that's how I coped for the last 15 years. With CPAP I wake often, can feel the air escaping mask, I adjusted it and was better but still not the best. I also hate the feeling of the air rushing in my mouth. It seems like I am on a motorcycle doing 90mph with my mouth open. I hate it, it actually blows my cheeks open. So now I find myself breathing thru my nose more and more. I wake up with a hangover feeling, didn't feel this was before CPAP, feel need for naps. I snuck a few naps last week without CPAP and slept great on my side. At what point would I try one of the nose masks?

I have the app for my phone, that data is a joke and worthless. How do I get the chart data that I saw another person post? I didn't get a sd card, my RT said I needed special SD card that is coded for Resmed, I stopped her short but think she was going to try to sell me one. I thought I read on here any old SD card will work. Is there a to put sd card in now and get last weeks data?

Is there any way to stop the machine from sending data to Resmed isn't that an invasion of my privacy?

You can turn on airplane mode and it won't transmit but the DME is going to want proof you are using the machine so they can tell your insurance company so that insurance will pay them. If insurance doesn't pay them they will want you to pay them.

You were fed a line of BS.
Any old SD card will work. I got one at WalMart that works fine. Sandisk I think it is.
The SD card must be in the machine to get all the detailed graphs. Only the Summary data is stored on the machine and will be put on any SD card that gets inserted. So you won't have all the graphs from last week but you will have some summary data....AHI, pressure, leak.

Thanks folks I have a couple sd cards sitting here. And I do need insurance to pay. Thou I think it is cheaper from other vendors, my travel unit will come from online vendor.
