teeth are sensitive

will a mouth guard help my teeth not be so sensitive?

Had a in home sleep study on Sept 14, went in for titration on Oct10. I am waiting on my air sense 10 for her to come in . Meanwhile i have been using my late mother's REMstar Auto . The pressure is on 8. The first night didn't do to bad, but the next morning my teeth hurt, i picked the Dream wear mask, love the hose on top of my head. but i feel it is to tight, second night did ok but teeth hurt,so i didn't use it the next night. I got a fx swift pillow new from my sister did ok with that but it was noisy, tried that for a couple nights but my AHI was climbing up started out with AHI 2.9, then 3.0,and 3.5. I didn't feel any leaks coming from around the nose but it took to much adjusting to get it not to make to much noise. So i got pillows for the dream wear mask, last night was the first night with it, after a few hours it really hurts my nose, so tonight i will try and loosen the back strap a little bit, but the AHI went down to 2.1, my teeth don't hurt like before just sensitive. I have picked the fx nano nasal to try when i get my machine. I did set the c pap to 8.5 when i use the pillows , and 3 so i can breath out easier.

Just want to say thank you for this forum, because of this group, i knew all the question to ask, and made sure i got what i wanted.

I apologize for the all the mistakes i'm sure i made. English was not my strong subject. And for this i don't post to much, but i was wondering about the guard, and i was going to get just 1 for the bottom.

Also right now i have a encore pro card in the temporary is there a way to see the results on the computer , instead of the c pap. I do have sleepyhead downloaded, but i sure won't know how to get it where it needs to be.
Sorry for the long post, and mistakes.

Again thank you for this great group.

If you have the Encore Pro Smart Card there might be more data on the machine depending on which machine but you would have to use Encore Pro and I don't know if the latest Pro is still compatible with that old of a machine.
The card reader that is needed is this one. Nothing else will work.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html

and once you spend the money and hope Encore Pro will install (it's a bitch) and is compatible this is an example of the detailed report.
Nothing like SleepyHead partly because of SH and partly because those old machines simply didn't gather as much data as the new machines.
Quite honestly....if your AHI is low and your total leak average is within acceptable numbers (less than 90 on that old machine) I don't know that I would go through all the hassle and expense since you will eventually get a new model with SD card and will work with SH.
Just make sure you know the models and which one is a brick and which one is full data.

Hi, and welcome. You shouldn't apologize so much.... your English is a lot better than many here .

I don't know if your mask is on too tight - not a good idea because it's counterproductive and there are too many masks out there to have to settle for an uncomfortable one (or one that can't inflate well to do the job because of overtightening), but if it's not too tight, you may need to look at other masks. But you didn't say how old you are and that just might have some bearing on how strong your teeth are - only you and your dentist can answer that. However you're far from the first to talk about the problem and hopefully others (ignore xxxyz... authoritatively gives wrong advice) will come with more info.

The DreamWear (or any of the other nasal masks you have mentioned) shouldn't be causing any tooth discomfort at all.
Only thing I can think of is some sort of pressure on the teeth...I assume you are talking about the upper teeth?

My first thought is that something is too tight and putting pressure on the teeth and gum area. I have never had tooth pain from any of the masks you mentioned and I just got off a 3 month trial with the DreamWear.

Yes, i am thinking the mask is to tight, so tonight i will loosen the back straps. I just turned 60, but i do have good teeth. That is what i was thinking just waiting to get my air sense for her, and try and do SH.

These masks don't have to be tightened down to vise grip tension to seal.
I actually wear mine quite loose. So loose that sometimes the back strap ends up on top of my head but the pillows are still in place in my nostrils.

Most common error people make is making the mask too tight. I tell them to look in the mirror and the first thought that goes through their mind is "piggy nose"...it's way too tight.

I have the same problem with teeth pain. I did not have the problem with my original FFM but, when I got the Swift nasal pillow, the tooth pain (top front) started. I also notice while flossing my teeth that those teeth are spaced out more than they had been.

I also have the problem of my nose hurting when using the nasal pillow. Might be I have the strap too tight but I am trying to track down a leak issue.

Frankly, these problems are minor compared to the problems I had with the FFM, so I ignore them. Though I have started thinking about them more recently, especially the nose pain.

I hope you find relief soon. I noticed an improvement in my sleep on day one, even though it was a grueling process to get where I am today (about 5 months later?). I hope you can get that kind of result (or better).

I keep thinking the same time, every time she posts something.

well it might help to sleep if i didn't keep checking for leask's , and if it didn't hurt because i do think it is to tight, but i didn't want it to be to loose. I really should have waited until i got my own machine, but i am tired of getting up 4 to 5 times a night to go to the bathroom, and the snoring was super loud. I have to wait 7 to 10 days before it comes in.

How do i post without having to say new, i tried to use my username heyslick ,but it said it was already in use, i know because i set it up like that, so i just put new, and i have to type in a code when i post.

heyslick doesn't show up as a member yet unless the typing or caps is wrong.
You may have registered that name but not got it officially approved yet.

No mask should cause pain...at most the nasal pillows might cause only MINOR tenderness just because that area of the body isn't used to having anything touching it.
Anything more than minor tenderness (think touching a bruise) means that either the mask is too tight, incorrect fit, wrong size or just the wrong mask for a person.

They really don't have to be all that tight to seal even at high pressures.

For minor tenderness with nasal pillows go to some place like WalMart and in the baby aisle is a product called Lansinoh lanolin ointment/cream. Small tube...little pricey but you use so little each time that it will last forever. It's used by nursing mom's for nipple issues when breast feeding. Use liberally during the day to help the soreness heal and go away and just a little bit at bedtime.

well loosing the mask worked, my teeth don't hurt, and my nose is not sore, Now all i have to do is wait for my sleep machine to get here so i don't have to run the fan. I don't put heat on in the room, and the fan sure makes it cold. It is hard to fall asleep when i an hear myself breathing.

How long dose it take to get approved?

Recently it's been weeks, but it's not 'personal', just small changes being made to the system.
