Cervical collar causing tiredness

Post by Controlshift » Thu Sep 21, 2017 3:35 am

I've been using a form collar for 2 weeks and my ahi has gone from 8 to 1. But I'm progressively getting more tired each day.
The last time I got more tired as my ahi improved was when I was using a back bumper to keep me on my side. i put that down to the bumper disturbing my sleep.
Could the collar be doing the same or is it something else?

That's impressive. What does your leak line look like?

What's your subjective judgment of the quality of sleep you are getting? How many awakenings do you remember? Are you dreaming more?

BTW, make sure the cervical collar is not too tight. It can be adjusted loosely - just so the chin does not slip below.

Mild nausea and mild headaches have returned. Feeling in refreshed on waking.poor concentration and motivated. Low energy levels. Wanting for a day time nap. Between 0 and 2 awakenings a night. No dreams.
Collar fits is good. Rearly it's loose enough for chin slip.

Can you think of any reasons the collar, which is giving you a low AHI, would make you feel worse???

Why would you not try sleeping without the collar for one or a few nights to see how you do? If that doesn't work well, you can always go back to the collar.

You are getting a very low AHI and a nearly perfect leak line.

Can you respond to this? --->

I find a cervical collar tends to cause me arousals and leads to less restful sleep. Then again, over the years before I got treatment for SA, most anything and everything disrupted my sleep.

I think the restriction in movement is causing me to not get enough REM sleep. While in a sleep if my body wanted to turn or move my head i can't because im fighting against the collar. That's all I can think is causing it. But I'm asleep so I'd have to use a camera to see.

I'm gonna keep it up for the weekend and see will my body accept the collar. Monday I'll go without

Good idea!

BTW, I wear a cervical collar and can easily switch positions between back and side. I can even sleep on my stomach (Falcon position), but it is a bit difficult to get in that position.
