Occasional visitor Capt Midnight here to say that this is an interesting subject, and we might expect to hear much more on the topic in the future.

It makes quite good sense that OSA just might be bidirectionally related to Alzheimers.

Consider that sleep apnea is a major generator of local and systemic inflammation, and that there is an association between Alzheimers and inflammation... http://www.mayo.edu/research/labs/alzhe ... n/overview

Here is a recent (this week) study suggesting a strong association between OSA and Alzheimers (among other interesting associations).

This scientist would be surprised if there were osa were not a causal and/or contributory affector of some cases of Alzheimers.

It's obvious. But sleep apnea does not equal sleep apnea.
If you are a severe case with constant desaturations, it's more likely to happen.
