Success!

Post by lwieland11 » Sat Aug 19, 2017 7:28 am

I was more than a little excited to see my score from last night...sure I wish I knew what I did right...my AHI is never this low.

6:01 hours...good seal...4.9 AHI...3 mask on/off

I have been trying to sleep more on my side...I start off that way but never know if I stay that way all night. Maybe I did. Sure made a profound difference, if so. I am most encouraged! At last!

Great! I still get excited to see good numbers. The main thing is -- how do you FEEL?

I feel pretty good. It's not the hit-the-ground-running, perfect mental clarity, full-of-energy feeling I have had before when the therapy was working perfectly. Maybe 8 hours would bring that?

Good going, lwieland!

I am discovering that I feel better when I have closer to 8 hours sleep than when I have around 6-7 hours--still not where I want to be, but definitely better.

Continued success to you,
Jean

Enshaded in forgetfulness divine

Me too!!! I have to admit, its been over a month of faithfully wearing my mask and using my machine with all kinds of try this and try that.(full disclosure: one night was very very short due to PND) My ahi's are coming at at 5 or under and I am good with that. My leaks must be coming from me pulling and repositioning the nose gear or whatever else I do because something whistled. I don't seem to have true leaks(they seem to be self inflicted mostly). And my brain fog, which I can't say I was fully aware of, seems to be different. I am more alert during the day. I am not needing naps like I used to and I am a pretty busy old fart and can keep up with myself. LOL!

All I want now is to really understand what any of this means. My comprehension is not what it used to be but I go all over the place for lessons and explanations.

=====

you should care how you feel

not what some arbitrary statistic number is
I keep looking for where you suggest I said I didn't care how I feel.

So X, I can see how respected your opinion is on this board, and frankly I actually don't care about that. This is not about that, nor even about you.

I don't come here looking for a fight. Nor to put people in their place. As long as they are respectful to me. In time, I will learn who the curmudgeons are. Who are the teachers. Who are the ones trying to help others without causing them Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (its a joke)
I can learn to accept the quirks of many people once I get to know them, if their intent is good. And I spend a lot of time reviewing people's intent so that I don't waste time debating simple differences of perception.

But I'll be dipped in oil ( real old family expression)(its actually dipped in sh*t but I cleaned it up) why people are so quick to judge or comment on the language of people here based on their own assumptions of meaning or perceptions, not taking into consideration ages, educations, experiences, etc.

I am here because I want to learn. So that means I certainly do care. One day when I can interpret my own stuff, I will care myself silly. I am 68, with heart issues, asthma issues, autoimmune issues, etc. I love my life so I really care that I want to stay alive. So I am here trying to learn the skills
and knowledge that you all have that I don't.(on subjects apnea)

I don't know why some of you snip at me or each other. And I'll be happy to snip with you all once I get to know you. But give me a minute to do that before you judge me deficient or before I know what I am trying to learn.

PS. I sleep alone except for the cats(no opinion invited on this one) so most of my reflections come from self diagnosing while I am mostly asleep or half asleep. Or from those readings that I am trying to learn how to interpret. I have read ahi 5 and under are considered in the treatable range. I am also learning that not all my ahi's are just I stopped breathing. That I could have been awake for a minute, or turning, or the cats trying to figure out where the new wind tunnel is) So even what I share here is still shaded with a lack of expertise.

PSS. I am really easy going, but got a bit of the curmudgeon in me when people put words into my mouth (or fingers as the case may be). But I always try to keep my sense of humor. Otherwise I will have to go quiet, and that won't help me at all.(see? I DO care how I feel. )

Congrats on the good numbers.
And yes, there is a good chance you would maybe have felt them more if you had slept more than 6 hours.
No guarantee though...wish it were that simple.

I did get a lot more done today than I usually do(more energy). Also, no need for a nap. So nice to have a somewhat normal day. It's been so long!

This is good. For me, 4.9 is a disaster, but it's clearly an improvement and current medical guidelines say it's acceptable.

I stared in 1999 and did not have the benefit (or perhaps the burden) of seeing my numbers. I just knew that I felt better.
