Clogged ear

Post by alpha752 » Mon Aug 07, 2017 7:41 am

Anyone have issues with their ears being clogged when using your pap?

I have a theory that the pressure (I'm at 13.5) is blowing through the eustachian tube and aerating the wax causing it to flow and clog the ear. Usually it clears after waking, today it's been over an hour and it's still clogged.

Any merit to my theory?

it could be the pressure on the eustachian tube, like going up in an aeroplane. It should settle down

Used to be every once and a while, now all the time, all day, left ear, about 1 hour after masking up.

Don't agree about aerating wax, mine is drainage from the sinus, runs down the back of my throat and clogs my ear, allergies bad 24/7 year around, take OTC nasal congestion tabs at bedtime. Jim

Thanks all. Usually it clears up shortly after waking up, but this has been all day. Sinus could be a thing too.

It's really annoying not being able to hear. Hope it clears up tomorrow.

I've had this a handful of times over the years. I do have bad allergies. However, the only time it happened was extreme allergies or when I was coming down with a sinus infection. Most of the time it was a sinus infection. My Dr. suggested a decongestant and that solved it for me. Now when this happens I get an over the counter decongestant. However, this infrequent enough I'm not worried about a decongestant. If it happened a lot, I'd be looking for other answers. Good luck.

Remember, an allergy can manifest or change at any time--even in adulthood.
Allergies are the root cause for an outrageous number of illnesses,
so a doctor may be the only source of permanent relief.
