Warning post has been deleted

Post by jsielke » Wed Aug 02, 2017 1:09 pm

I note that the post warning newcomers about xxyzx and his misinformation, etc, has been deleted. Can this be done by a member or dies it require an administrator?

I think alphabet boy has the ability to delete posts.

BEWARE: Poster xxyzx is not as knowledgeable as he thinks he is and becomes very hostile when challenged. Search some of his posts to see what he is capable of and please....Triple check all advice from him!!

I think that since the entire thread was removed it was the forum moderator/owner who removed it. Damn shame.

Actually any member who knows the correct sequence of spam removing posts can make an entire thread go away if the forum software wants to cooperate.

Normally if Carolyn would be involved she would offer an explanation or maybe remove the content or something like that.
Or maybe she did and the explanation is coming later.

I may well be wrong, but I thought all the replies stayed in place if the initial post were deleted as spam. Maybe wrong. Been wrong before and will be wrong again I am sure.

No. Not if they were also spam removed. It's easy to do, remove an entire thread by spam removing each reply one at a time. Sometimes the forum software messes us up though...like the one recent thread for a machine and the topic doesn't exist. I think it has something to do with the order of the removals but I can't be sure why sometimes the thread gets stuck with nothing in it.

Since you know who is now online and the thread just now disappeared...I have a pretty good idea who is responsible and it's easily verified on Carolyn's end who did the removing.

Well if the Administration deleted it, then they must approve of xxyzx' behavior. If that is the case then this forum is not worth dealing with, and the only way to express dissatisfaction is to boycott CPAP.com.

I'm going to reserve judgment until we get the final word from Carolyn. But I suspect we all already know...

We shouldn't be surprised but there are way more of us than there are of him so as long as it wasn't removed by Carolyn, we can keep posting it faster than he can keep removing it.

And a suggestion to all: Do NOT reply to him or engage him. If he says something factually inaccurate, correct the FACT but not address it to him. I honestly believe that once we stop responding to him, the forum will lose it's allure and he'll go away.

I noticed that the thread disappeared right after "flyingpiggy" complained about his/her post being deleted. Except for the correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, it sounded like you know who. Oh, and there were no profanities or threats. Okay, maybe it's not the same person.

BTW, how would one go about completely deleting one's profile and personal data?

I have my doubts as to Carolyn doing the removal. It's not her style and she would have sent you a PM privately and explained why she did it.

The Goodmans have been away from the forum for a while (vacation) and now she is back and I am sure there are discussions going on as to what to do about mr alphabet boy. I have voiced my displeasure privately and I am sure that I am not the only one.
Now whether our (all of us who find his behavior unacceptable) voices and opinions will override Johnny's freedom of speech preferences and cause his removal...that is unknown at this time. I am not part of any of that.

If any of you haven't sent Carolyn a note about how upsetting his presence is to this forum and its reputation...do it.
I know Johnny is a big believer in freedom of speech but some how I can't see that our rights have to be tossed aside just to let one person have freedom of speech no matter how ugly that speech might be.

For myself...when the forum is no longer a fun useful place to come to...I am outta here. It's fast coming to that point.

That would have to be done at administrator level. A person would send Carolyn a PM and request de-activation of their member account here.

Yeah, I noticed what flyingpiggy said. Could be just a coincidence or could be mr alphabet boy using an alter ego...which is easy to do.
I am inclined to lean towards just a coincidence myself. Usually when alter egos are involved we can usually spot some hints with writing style as to who they might really be especially if they post more than once. True colors eventually show through.

I would hope that preventing a lot of erroneous (and possibly harmful) information would trump freedom of speech. We've had plenty of people on here over the years who were ugly, rude, and persisted in name-calling, but none that I can recall who insisted they were always right while at the same time giving inaccurate information. (Although I"m sure there may have been someone at some point.)
