Air leakage

Forgive me if i have this in the wrong area, but I wasn't sure quite where to put it.

My CPAP unit is the ResMed AutoSet for Her and I recently obtained the Phillips Respironics DreamWear Nasal pillow mask It's a very comfortable mask to sleep with. The mask states it can be used with "any tubing".

The only thing I notice is an intense air rushing out of the point at which the ResMed tubing connects to the top of the head on the DreamWear mask.

I don't get many poor mask-fit scores on MyAir when using the P10 nasal pillows I also have. But, with the DreamWear, the score is always poor on mask fit and I think it's because of the leak with the hose.

Anyone else with the same problem? If I wrap my hand around the leak to stop it, it doesn't make any difference to the feel of the air coming into the mask and has nothing to do with the exhausting of the air from the front of the mask.

Any recommendations for how to stop the leak short of duct tape which will just gum up the hose? Do I need a different hose?

I think you are feeling the normal venting of the air and you don't want to block those holes because that is how the carbon dioxide that we exhale gets blown out into the room. You don't want to be rebreathing it.
The DreamWear has 2 place where it vents ...the top up where the long hose attaches to the top of the mask and in the cushion area next to the pillows there are also some vent holes.

I am using this same mask right now. I do get more mask movement leaks with it than I do with the P10 nasal pillows.
I ended up going with a small size frame (the original packaging comes with medium frame) and that helped with mask movement leaks a lot.
So you might look at changing frame size and/or even changing nasal pillow size. I wish they had an extra small size in the DreamWear gel pillows...I think the Small size is borderline too large and things would be even more stable with a smaller pillow.

If the time spent in large leak is very small and you are sleeping well and feeling decent then I don't know that I would worry so much about the leak numbers being sometimes not so great.

But, with the DreamWear, the score is always poor on mask fit and I think it's because of the leak with the hose.

So how poor is it? Where did you get the leak score....from the MyAir website or off the machine or software?
Are you using available software to see just how bad those large leaks are? If not, you should.
