Renting Airsense 10 Autoset for Her

Post by rdavis » Wed Jul 26, 2017 9:30 am

Does anyone know where I can rent an Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her? I'm going to try it because I'm still have unresolved issues with a lot of RERAs and hypopneas, and I had read that the AutoSet for Her algorithm is specifically designed for the differences in women's breathing patterns. I'm hoping it will help. But I'd like to test it out before I buy.

Also, if anyone has tried the "Autoset for Her" machine, what did you think? Did it make a difference to your therapy? And I read online that it's only for mild to moderate sleep apnea. Mine is severe. Would it still be worth trying?

Thanks!

The AirSense 10 for Her model comes with 3 different modes it can be used in.

CPAP fixed mode
Regular auto adjusting apap mode
the special "for Her" apap mode

So it doesn't make any difference if your OSA is severe or mild or whatever.

Sorry, I don't know of anywhere that rents these machines out. You might check with local DMEs in your area to see if one of them would be willing to rent one to you. What are you using now and where did you get it? Have you checked with them?
Sometimes DMEs will loan/rent out a machine that was used and returned for some reason.

One of the few online suppliers that supply rentals. Rather expensive IMHO.

I have two Airsense Autoset for Her - both my primary and backup. I use the For Her algorithm. The regular algorithm works great, but the For Her works better for me. If you were planning on a Resmed anyway, just get the For Her model- that gives you the options to try. The machine is the same cost and if the For Her algorithm doesn't work for you, you can just go to the regular algorithm.

Oh, and it isn't pretty flowers. Just a lighter color with leaves. As someone who detests all black appliances, I'm pretty happy with the light color.

There's been a fair amount of discussion on the For Her algorithm and those in the know believe that it is the more gentle algorithm used a couple of Resmed models ago. The For Her algorithm may not be applicable to severe apnea, I don't know, but you have the regular algorithm to fall back on if that is the case.

A different model machine might give you improved therapy. But, I would like to suggest something else before you try that. Post some Sleepyhead images of a night or two for experienced members to comment on. They may see something that could be changed to greatly improve you therapy immediately.

If you post images, please use the format as explained in the link below. (The images you posted before were not in a format that could be used.)
