Need a new source for supplies

Post by PairsNPaint » Sun Jul 23, 2017 2:57 pm

I am fed up with Apria. No communication, no customer service. Once my ResMed was paid for, it seemed that they just didn't care to service me. I have had my machine now for about 1-1/2 years and have NEVER recieved replacements for my mask, tubing, harness, or filters. I have contacted them numerous times and only recieved a letter asking for a compliance download from my doctor which was sent to them. I have a spare mask but even that one is starting to wear out.

Can anyone suggest a supplier that they are happy with that responds to requests and will bill Medicare? Thank you!

It's going to depend on where you live and do you want a local store to deal with or would you be happy with an online vendor.

Go here https://www.medicare.gov/supplierdirectory/search.html
and plug in your zip code and you can get a list of DMEs that will work with Medicare in your area.
Avoid LinCare if one comes up in your area....they are as bad as Apria.
Once you get a list of Medicare participating vendors in your area start interviewing them (call them) and see who seems to want your business and is willing to help.

Calling ahead is critical, because the Medicare site is not regularly updated.

http://www.cpap.com is our sponsor for this forum. I highly recommend them. Excellent customer service. But, you have to check if you are using insurance if they are in your plan.
I also have good service with Lincare, which is in my insurance network.

Sorry, I just saw that you asked about medicare.

Cpap.com doesn't file insurance at all and OP has Medicare and Medicare will NOT reimburse for anything purchased from cpap.com
If someone is wanting to use their they have to go with a Medicare participating provider...hence checking with Medicare to see who is on their zip code list. Let's hope she's not in a competitive bidding area.

Unfortunately, this isn't always a reliable way to search.

My original supplier was SleepMed, then they lost their medicare contract. At that time, the link above showed only one supplier in the San Francisco Bay area, where I live - and it was an oxygen supply company. My sleep doctor gave me a list of several others, including his comments/preferences from interviewing each. None of these companies were listed on the Medicare website as being anywhere near home. Apparently some companies list all their office locations, others list only their main office. In my case, my new supplier is SuperCare, with an office 8 miles from home, but their only listing on the Medicare website is 350 miles away, in southern California.

When I first saw that the site states that I am in a competitive bid area-- I freaked!
Then I read further and saw that my area is CB for diabetic testing supplies, only.
Still freaking out, until I found out that mailorder is not the only option--so I do not have to settle for mailorder weird stuff.
I do not know if cpap supplies are locked into mail order; but I would definitely check into it.
Does anybody know?

PairsNPaint, please take this opportunity to file a complain with Medicare about Apria. Once you leave, you can't file anything. If there are enough complaints, Medicare will stop awarding them business (one can only hope). Lincare varies by the office. My brother and I had Lincare for 2 years. He had zero problems, I had problems getting some brand name supplies which I eventually got through the local office.

I guess I concur with the others. Plug in your zip code and get the listing of what is available in your competitive bid area. Don't worry about the listing for manufacturer's and models. Most provide more than what they have listed, although some, like my new one, only provide Resmed and Respironics with limited popular masks of other brands.
