Hello,
I am looking for recommendations for a better way to sleep.
I sleep with a FFM from Resmed, and my wife complains that sometimes my CPAP hose is making a loud noise. She said that it is because I sleep with on the palm of my hand and it pushes my mask up. This doesn't happen all of the time, just some of the time.
How would you recommend fixing this problem, I haven't ever tried a nose pillow so don't know exactly which size to try when using it. I tried to use a nasal mask when I first started out and that mask was too uncomfortable. Also when using the nasal mask I used a chin strap but was still breathing through my mouth with it.
I am averaging close to 7-9 hours a night on my machine, and I believe have been averaging close to that since I got it.
Anyways I wanted to see what you might recommend for fixing the noise issue.

It's possible the noise is mask leak from mask movement from being pushed by your hand some of the time.
I don't know if a mask liner will help reduce the noise or not. Worth a try though. You can buy them or make your own out of an old T shirt or similar material.
Might be easier than changing to a new mask especially if the chin strap can't help the mouth opening enough if you went to a mask that wasn't so easy to dislodge.

Re: Recommendations for a better way to sleep
Ask your wife what kind of sounds she is hearing. It is hissing or farting? Those tend to be mask leaks. Is it really coming from the hose? Is it a gurgling noise? That could be water in the hose. I get that if I sleep in a room that is cooler, and I don't raise the temp on my heated hose. That sound can be really annoying and doesn't go away quickly unless you get up and drain the water out.
If it is truly the mask, and you are happy with that mask, I would work on better fitting, a mask liner like Pugsy suggested, or a different pillow to help you not bump the mask. That would be easier than adjusting to a different mask.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
