Saving Hybrid for Colds

Post by krousseau » Fri Nov 24, 2006 9:32 pm

Started using hybrid Aug 6 and tried many things including the dreaded hacksaw and scuba mask sealer-though it got better-I couldn't reliably stop the leaks. And even when it did not leak--it never got to the consistent performance of the F-P 406. With the F-P 406 my AHI is usually below 1 and nearly always below 1.5. The Hybrid AHI usually hovered between 4 & 5 and too often up to 6. The Hybrid will remain in my bedside drawer for stuffy nose nights when I'll glue it on with plumber's silicone sealant, secure it with an extra strap, take an ambien, and let the airflow from the pillows unstuff my nose.

I am so thankful for the hybrid. I really don't think I could handle cpap without it. I bought another FF mask just to try and I felt trapped, and the thought of taping my mouth freaks me out. I have since purchased two additional hybrids just in case! I would love to see other companies come out with a copy-cat version or a Hybrid II so help solve the problems some folks have with this mask. Funny thing, I have not had a problem with the headgear yet (knock on wood)

As far as the plumbers silicone goes, does it cause any irritation? I would like to pick some up incase of a renegade leak!

Cheers,
Paul

I have not had any problem with the plumbers sealant-I looked up the ingredients in the sealant I used. They are approved for contact with drinking water and they are used in cosmetics so felt OK about using it. It appears to be the same thing as scuba mask sealant but could not find any list of ingredients for the scuba gear stuff.
