Avatars and pictures

Post by linda b » Sun Nov 19, 2006 12:16 am

I feel like a total dunce, but I cannot figure out how to establish an avatar. On the profile page near the bottom there is a place to select an avatar from another location on your computer. However, it didn't work when I tried it. Can someone walk me through the process step by step? I'd like to use a picture from a file I have on the computer under "My Pictures."

Also, what is the secret to posting pictures in a reply? Don't know how to do that, either!!!

Hi Linda,
I would guess you probably followed the right steps. But, did you check to make sure the picture was the right size.

I copied this: "Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 100 pixels, the height no greater than 100 pixels, and the file size no more than 15 KB."

If you don't have a program to size the picture, email it to me and I'll size it for you. Or, I read in one thread you can upload it to some service then download it from there.

For resizing a pic to be used as an avatar, this works well, and it's FREE:

For adding an image to your post, try this, and it's also FREE:

I'm no kind of computer expert, but I know those work.
