The Tiara FF Mask was a disaster

Post by roadwarrior » Thu Oct 26, 2006 3:24 pm

I'm sorry to report that my trial of the Tiara Full Advantage FF mask ended early and was a disaster. First I noticed that it was rather cheaply made. The clips were very small and fragile, not to mention hard to work. The seal seemed fine enough, but here came the serious rub....

The silicone valve flap doesn't allow for a complete seal and therefore the air pressure is all over he place. Only when you place your finger over the opening does it decide to seal correctly and then allow the proper distribution of the air pressure from the machine. Also it comes with NO extension for the hose, and as a result is expected to be fed through the strap/net configuration it comes with for the head. What a bad joke. This is at best an abortion in design (sorry for the strong use of words but it sure fits). If it had worked it might have at least been interesting, but alas it never made it terribly far into the trial. I contacted Cpap.com and notified them it's coming back as a defective unit. I am upgrading to a ResMed Ultra Mirage FF mask and will give that a try. Enough folks have had decent results with them so it's a fair bet. I have also loved my Active so I do admire their designs (even if they are a money grubbing company behind the scenes.) Hopefully this all comes out in the wash. I was only getting the ff mask as it's coming up on that season and I didn't want to be unprepared just in case my sinuses go south. Otherwise the Activa is a super mask and the one I use every night without fail.......
