Better now, thanks all! + Q

Thanks to everyone who gave advice to me. I tryed cleaning the mask with my handmade soap ( I am suposeing that is natural enough). It is much better now. My poor nose is healing so I only wore it half the night last night as not to make the skin more agitated. I am not sure why it never accured to me that it may need cleaned.

Also anyone have the problem with feeling like your drowning in your mask? I know I am geting air but feel as if I am not breathing if the air gets stuffy. Throughout the night the air will cool and then later worm up agen. I do not like the humidafyer. The warm air makes me panic in the middle of the night. Its too muggy to breath. I fill the reseviour and that is enough moisture for me. Any tricks? Or do I just have to get used to it?

I usually don't turn my humidifer on... yes I keep water in it because I like that much humidity... but I don't like hot and humid air.

I don't use the heat with my humidifier if I do, only during the coldest of months. You should look into the Aussie heated hose (see below), it is expensive but well worth it, it warms the hose like an electric blanket without adding moisture to the air. Too much moisture causes rainout and the air too feel stuffy.

Where you can purchase the Aussie hose:

If you are feeling like you are drowning, it can be from the humidifier being up too high or your cpap pressure is not high enough (i.e. you are rebreathing too much of your exhaled air). This usually happens if your using an autoppap and have the starting pressure too low such as 4 or 5cm.

No, I dont use my heater. Just as you said I too just keep water in it . It seems to be enough moisture. I can agree it could be the air level but up to now No onw has botherd to tell me what mine is. Should it be displayed??? I am not even sure it was set at all. when they set it up they fidled with it but she never said she set it. I just asumed she had. It is an auto. Also I wanted to order from here but my DR told me no. Intead he has me renting this one for $80 a month. Im only paying $15 but thats untill the 1st then it will be like $30. Would it do me any good to call my insurence and ask to just buy??

Have you called your Dr. or RT to see what they say? If you're using auto they may have set the range to start too low. Ask your Dr. what you were titrated at. You should have a copy of your sleep study, Mine has the titration pressure on it. I'm not sure if your machine shows any stats on the display. If it does, does it show AHI?
